  22. What a difference a fuller squad makes, with only Woody, Burr and Low missing we saw what we are capable of at the weekend. Even better was to come from a goal behind , undeserved on the whole of the play but not surprising as Broch changed it 2nd half and looked better for it, and win with a lot minute pen.
Was delighted with Shaun Wood as well , best game he's had and Kev Fraser was unplayable at times, and I must admit fair play to the captain who stepped up big time at 1 down, Lewis threw himself at the game after that, well done boys work in progress and delighted with that win.

  23. Another great day out with the supporters bus, team!got the points at the Broch with as good as any league performance I have seen there. More points coming our way.

  24. The 25 is a magic number, made up with staff members. The team is using out of position players instead of the youngsters. The gesture to Rothes has backfired because of injury and work abscense. Keith's very young left back!was their man of the match against us,he made the difference. The club must trust them, and use them. They will fade and tire that's why we have sub's, its not just for swoap around when sending offs occur .

  25. I appreciate its the start of the season and there is no need to panic, yet, but why cant we field a team. we've sent boys on loan and cant muster a full bench and now we are back into suspension territory. Indiscipline is ill afforded with a full squad let alone when we have what appears to be a growing problem fielding a team, im glad I missed this one and frankly this isn't good enough, we need to know why we cannot field a team when we have 24/25 players signed, simple as that.

  26. Did well!at the start and were unlucky not to lead. But our pass and move side were simply overpowered by a fit large well coached cove team playing a tight defensive 442 . They could be league winners this year,I was impressed. We scored 2 good goals and maybe should have made it a face saving 4--3. Cove were having none of it . They play to the whistle and their fourth goal showed that. The blasted free kick at the end did not flatter them. The young player gave up matching a power run and took!the guy down on!the edge of the box. Lesson learned their, keep running and time your tackle ,hacking down is not clever or in the spirit of the sport. It's a cop out that wrecks your teams chances andcearns suspensions.! Telt

  27. Hello,

We noticed in our time watching the Highland League last season that there wasn't much in the way of a written record kept of the league, at least one that we could find. So we wrote one!

We have produced a 252-page diary of all the events of last season, including a list of friendly results, short reports on all competitive matches, club statistics, competition summaries, and fleshed it out with other bits and pieces which should be of interest to Highland League fans!

The book is available through our publisher Lulu.com, and you can see our order page here - http://www.lulu.com/shop/shfl-diary/shfl-season-diary-201415/paperback/product-22277458.html

Furthermore, any copies of the book ordered before Monday will be posted out for free. Use the code JLS15 to apply your discount!

  29. At last it begins ,cove again for starters, let's hope for a large turnout to support the Jags, it does make the difference. 200 in the canopy roaring them on inspires the players. Expect cove to be tight and hit us hard on the break. Early goals to winkle them out would help us but it will be tough. Being at least ninth to qualify for the upper division will be a priority!

  34. Robert Scott, I've got high hopes for this lad, he is already a wonderful prospect, a delight to watch playing. I do hope he gets games and can claim a place in the team. The previous management ignored too many young players,if they had shown more faith in them they might still be in charge. The ringers pouring into the villages for cash will be swept away by a flood of young talent in a year or two.

Bear and me were at last years Sportsman, quality night and value for money. He,s away to Canada and I,ll bet he wil be dissapointed l missing it over a buisness trip..The current crop of youngsters are the best I've seen since the Wills days. I am quite happy to watch the team grow and play attractive football. We suffered Huntly during the Five in a row, somthis Brora and Formartine strangling the league with stupid down will not put me off supporting the Jags. 44. FBN in overdrive after the buckie paper edition this week.Christ even halfway round the world there is no end to the saga that is the Jags!!!.It is high time that the people of Buckie /Supporters club had some form of trust set up away from the football club to protect the club and the interests surrounding it. More and more the scottish government is pushing for some form of community trust involving football clubs and no wonder, this puts management of clubs into supporters hands and out of a single person or a group of individuals. The issue of the lease of btfc ?DO WE REALLY KNOW WHO OWNS THIS.The club are always looking for funding but how can people invest in the football club when so little information is forthcoming from the club about the lease, the developement association link with the club, by all accounts very little information is known about this and what the aims are, personnel gain, gain to the benefit of BTFC or both or other. Communication is terrible within our club -They make a rod for their own back. The lease of any business , sports organisation or other is the most important item to be concerned with, BTFC supporters and the town of buckie really need clarification on this issue which seems to remain behind a closed door. Bring this important issue to the table and lets all find out the status once and for all -Clarity,evidence and closure l not words is required around the lease from BTFC board management and lease holders /organisations/people involved.Unfortunately Buckie has a past history regarding Football club going to the wall or some other misdemeanours that has a negative effect that on the town and people ,All persons I am sure don't want to see this repeated with another SAVE THE JAGS SCHEME, It is imperative that our old club is protected and allowed to stabilise and prosper long into the future.

  54. Lots of chatter about players being released, I hate this time because if like all this current squad. Good luck ,find another club and thanks for being a Jag. Some locals going is the hardest of all to take, but the club will!win nothing dwelling on sentiment. 59. Young Dunne is on a transfer request away from Rothes, I would like to see him at the Jags playing with Woody in the centre of defence. He is big hard and relatively local. For once beat Forres to a large defender, he has his rough spots but the Jags could make him the finished article. His old man is a great football man and would be an asset to the club as well ,in a scout or keeper coach role.

  63. Another pr disaster, the floodlights will all need repair or replaced with new galvanised stations. The corrosion of one will mean they are all the same. No one at the club has a Scooby doo about health and safety. They can't keep putting their heads in the sand. The playing of a banned player smacks of incompetence at secretarial level, they have got to explain how this happened, I suspect the dumping of problems on to a single person and the failure to keep a diary of agendas are the cause. The bunker will hammer us for this, points and money and our reputation as being a leading club gone straight out the window. The club are competing with an up and coming Dons for the fans affections, they better realise this soon!

    Posted on

  64. Good positive appointment of Spider and co will keep things ticking along in the right direction.
Again off the field the Club seems to stumble from 1 Pr issue to the next -Floodlights. By all accounts this happened last week yet not fixed.Surely the club can get their act together regarding public safety, there is more to the club than the founders club and free drink. I am hearing a Verbal statement was made allegedly regarding the debentures that nobody would be taking interest, as anybody seen a statement from the club to this effect??? or have they missed the PR boat again to resolve an issue that no other club would have dared try.

    Posted on

  65. Whats the extent of the damage to the floodlights, is it only a bent pole cause by the wind and weight of the light on a rusted tube, or is it worse and electrical damage as well. Will all stanchions have to be inspected and strengthened. Time for the bucket at the gate,it worked last time. On the bright side no midweek games until its sorted! Discuss!

  69. Wi jst a few hours left of 2014 fits abodies highlights of the year.
Mine are firstly the fantastic 3-1 win at Inverurie in the league cup semi and a superb hatrick fae Chris. secondly the Shire semi win at Formartine 3-0 was stunning and totally merrited. My last top game was Clach 1 Jags 6 in Spidey/ Lewis's 1st game in charge it could quite easy have been double figures.
Players of the year would be the 2 Chris's Heggy and Angus. Hope we can get Scotty for another season as i think this would suit both us and him

  70. Great new signing, another fit looking quick across the park midfielder, just what the fans ordered.IMO the club is building in the correct fashion,a young football playing team to entertain us, and a team ready to fill the void when Bwowa stop dominating. There are a number of former players soon to be available,if they chose football over cash comforts,we could have an awesome team by the start of next season.

  74. Adequate, could and should have had a couple of more goals. The sending off was undefendable the upside is a young player will get a start if Grantown ever defrosts.Saw a couple of Rothes players I would like to come to the Jags, you don't have to spend money on chancers after a fast buck, keep most of what we've got and build on that.

  75. Bit in the paper about spider and Lewis continuing with the managers role to the end of the season. Suits me fine as their care no candidates to match our meager resources anyhoo. The new brand of football has been wonderful, and a real tonic for the regulars. The tactics being altered and quickly changed instead of being persisted with till the bitter end suits the squad. This weeks problem is a packed defence ,we score freely at better teams coming on to us,but the best way to attack and score enough goals when we are clearly on top has yet to be resolved, got a feeling Saturday might be special!and new, away the Jags

Anyhoo!the Jags turned them in inside out for virtually the whole game,we scored twice withn2 football goals and they can thank their reserve goalie for making several brilliant and a few lucky saves to keep the score down? There is a statement in the northern scot,it says enough .What do fans expect, a qualified coach is a must,we wil continue to be an open club in recruitment, new players are required, they will come. I lived through the negative damage of the 60s and 70,s. Club deserting supporters spread the mantra of where did all!the money go. Committee members were held up as potential!embezellers and no one wanted to get involved with running the club. History repeats itself.Unless you pay your Jags Jackpot and support the team home and away nothing much will!change. Some in Buckie do. Do walking away, but they don't let it rest do they?

  95. Things need to change drastically. That group of players do not look happy, they look very negative and afraid to express themselves. They are creating next to no chances and there is absolutely no entertainment for your entrance fee. The fan's don't seem to have any expectation now and their seems to be an air of apathy around the whole club. I do not think the result was an embarrasment, Fort William played very well, they moved the ball well, had some players with pace and were dangerous on the break. If they can turn in prerformances like that they surely will get more victories. But where has the spark went from Victoria Park. Are we going forward, not from my vantage point.

Coaching of set pieces is required thec playerhave not got a clue of where to stand and move to when attacking the ball. No one stays wide and covers the many overshot crosses as the strikers get in each others way.We are in a slump, some players not involved need to be released and the squad would improve with new blood of competent players with desire to!winmfor the fans in their hearts.

  109. Two of the greatest players in the Jags recent history were small, Zander and Molby were easy enough to put the sweeties out of reach from.Young lads bulk up with getting games and applying themselves to getting faster and fitter in training. Some great defending on the ground by locos kept us at bay. There was a lack of understanding on the left of the defence this is where the telling balls were played from for locos to score goals from quality balls. This happens in football,we hat the bar and were denied fouls and had balls whipped away at the point of scoring,Baxter broughtboutba wonder save from the keeper. Not all!was bad.

  110. Old timer, suggesting the young lads are too light weight,I feel is ridiculous. Everyone sees football with differing opinions of course, but I am seeing a very disjointed team without proper guidance, a rudderless ship if you like. Don't see a game plan, don't see players knowing where their team mates will run to or what they will do.

    Posted on

  111. Thought the young lads played reasonably well today. Bit disappointed when the defence switched off and gave the guy a free header for the first goal. Lack of shots was worrying, but that seems to be a problem overall recently. They played some nice football at times when they kept the ball on the deck but resorted too often to high balls which the taller Loco's defence handled with ease. Now is the time for the more experienced players to get a grip and stop getting themselves suspended for soft bookings and sending offs. Promising as these young boys look they are too light weight to play week in week out when the heavy pitches arrive. Well done today lads, beaten but by no means disgraced,

  112. Not a classic by any means but a lot of effort by the team. Andy Lows crackshot off the bar and Andrzej beingshoved off the ball when through, plus a narrow miss meant nilpoints to the Jags.Lots to be hopeful about,Hauntly here I come. Good crowd because of the locos away support. They were complaining that they couldn,t get into the stand extension,I explained that you had to named Richard to get into it.

Despite the result we had some really good performances at Cove, Ben and Harry came in and looked like they'd been playing every week, Kyle deputised well at right back against very good opposition, Drew came on and played really well in a midfield outnumbered, added to Lewis's MOM performance and it wasn't all bad. We are not creating enough clear chances but they will come, keep backing the team folks no one can question their efforts

No committee should be interfering with team matters unless absolutely necessary. We are suffering for the expenditure of the last regime, its a long way back at times ,ask the 52 year veterans about that.

  147. can't for the life of me agree with FAJ that all the fault of the clubs problems is down to the board of the club.Old fears I had about the calibre of some of them have been dispelled by the mountain of barriers they had put in their way They have dug in and are providing the club corporate and supporters needs as quickly as they can,at no cost to the support above and beyond what they want to contribute as individuals. This season some pretty good players have come to the club. The two walkouts have not stopped the progress of our fine young squad. Sure everything ain't puppy's and chocolates, but the bad Buckie habit of inventing a blame culture is not helping.Flouncing away and disgracing the club in the press are not the hallmarks of real supporters IMO.I and other fans travel 40/60 miles to see home games, don't bring the club down by chasing off the guys willing to try to make a difference.Northern oils could still uproot and go to their original choice of Lossiemouth then where would we be. 163. Item 4 of Buckie Thistle's 'Supporters Charter' states:

Make supporters aware of any major changes at the club at the earliest opportunity either by the club website, programme or local press

Surely the rumoured departure of Mainser comes under this category.

It's pretty poor that with less than a week to go before an important cup game, no one from the Club has so far bothered to practice what they preach and consider the supporters.

The support is becoming increasingly disillusioned at the lack of information.

So how about an official statement, this wall of silence is doing no favours to anybody.

whoever runs the function hall the supporters club who have been working hard to keep it going give them a say the fans I asked to have a meeting on what we can do just got no enthusiasm from anyone. we should be getting xmas fundraising and the summer 2015 ideas on the go shortly so come on you people who matter get yer fingers oot im sure every Buckie fan wants that

  175. I can never quite understand this need to ken fit its ah aboot. The teams position and form is that of a club rebuilding the playing and corporate side of the buisness. We are at the moment 250 regular as they can be(home and away) supporters. We can best serve the club by etting our mates and family to come along to games and roar the Jags on. If we tick off this board and they decide to flounce out the door taking their toys with them then we really will kill the club forever. We are no better or less informed than any other club, as can be seen from the Rothes example , hounding folk trying to do their best will never make a structured sport like a football club better. Our young team were no where near physical or big enough to compete against the stiff wind.A wind effect fluke then a correct sending off sealed the teams fate. When is Heggy going to realise he is a marked man and cant get away with dangerous play. Funny enough when it came to football we held our own for a good while with a few good moves. Krissy was a big miss today as was Jay. I think Shaun Wood and Carrol would have made better starts the original line up was too inexperienced to live with Forres in any conditions. If the function hall reopens, it is up to fans to choose where they go. I am on neither side of the fence on the politics of the club, but cannot believe how quickly the hard work, committment and success of Mark and Murray has been forgotten. If all fans did a quarter of the work those two lads did, Buckie would be some club. I wish our current board all the best and hope they can get us back on track, we cannot look back, but please, we must surely remain respectful to the Duncans, not for the trophies, but for the 24/7 they gave to Buckie Thistle for ten years. I hope the current administration give us the same effort

I was there for most home games last season and it is not all down to the way the team is/was playing that accounted for the decline. A bunch of people who used to frequent choose to go elsewhere. It suited my travel arrangements to continue go there.

Agree with needing new players however we need money for that purchase, As I have said before it is up to the board to generate the funds to allow the coaching staff to identify possible signing target, I am not convinced with the lack of info coming out of the club what our priority is the ground or the team, I can live with the lack of players if it means the ground is finished this season but I am not convinced either will happen, to much faith put on corporate hospitality. What about the ordinary punter and the money they bring in on a sat, If you remember the Funky was full nearly every sat with the ordinary punter. Having said all that apart from the president and maybe 1 or 2 others I cant see our board generating funds can you?

Maybe we dinna have money to sign players as the off field work taks money thats fair enuf but dont the fans deserve to cane this ?? If so why nae get some youths in . The Buckie High School seniors have won everything goin surely some o them must be as good as some o the players we have.

I am all for Buckie Thistle earning some much needed revenue, but I was very disappointed to hear that my grandchildren were charged £15 each for their Buckie v Rangers tickets, with no concession. These kids also visit Pittodrie on occasion and have a cheaper admission charge for a Premiership fixture. This is not the Glamorous Rangers of years ago, and it is only a pre season fitness exercise. Who made the no concession decision. I feel glamour games are an opportunity to get youngsters to Victoria Park and go on to be long term Jags fans.

James was a great Jags supporter, liked by the crowd , always full of fun and quick to burst into a chorus of the steaming song. He will be remembered by his fellow Jagsfans for a long time. I am as upset about this as I was for Norman and Bunny a couple of years back. I hope James family cope with his loss and keep coming along to shout on the Jags. Great win over the Loco's will be seen as a suitable memorial to our passing friend. Away the Jags

I was great pals wi him and gutted that top Jags fan Jamie has gone. Some great memories of following the Jags at home games and away.
The away Scottish Cup games at the likes of Morton, Bo'Ness and East Stirlingshire were always a great day oot. So fitting as weel to see his Loon Liam get young supporter of the year made his dad very proud.

  258. Best wishes to Gary MacNamee of Keith, hope he has a very speedy and successful recovery after the horrible injury sustained in today's game.
My thoughts also go out to Chris Hegarty who did not deserve the reaction from Darren Still and other Keith officials. The lad probably feels terrible even though he was not to blame.
This was two brave committed players going for a 50/50 ball each not giving any quarter. To suggest that there was any malice in the challenge is purely untrue. If Chris had hesitated in the challenge, he could have been the one carried off which often happens when backing out of a tackle.
I was very disappointed with Mr Still who was openly shouting terrible insults at Buckie Supporters, not concerned that there were a few children nearby. If this happened in the Scottish Premiership, the manager involved would be in the Stand for a very long time, is the Highland League immume from these regulations.
He infuriated Buckie fans who started shouting back, this could have led to sticky situation. A manager cannot and should not get involved with supporters.
I would have liked to have seen him go to the player and try to reassure and comfort him rather than exchanging unpleasantries and insinuating blame.
I for one will never set foot in Kynoch Park again.
But the important thing, get well very soon Gary, you showed real desire and courage in the challenge.

Nothing but praise for the Jags today, defended superbly, had some excellent passages of play, especially in the first half. A real sense of togetherness about the team. No urgency to hit the long ball today. Well done to all the players and Mr Hake and his coaching staff!

  267. Good game today and we seem to be able to compete well against the teams who supposedly could win the league. Two really nice goals today by The Jags and we can consider ourselves very unlucky with the own goal, however I felt Louie was very unlucky as instinct makes a defender try to clear the ball.
No personnel changes are needed in this team, they all have ability.
Again, I was very disappointed with the amount of balls we launched straight up to our opponents' centre halfs, this seems a big problem for Buckie and I would dearly love Mr Hake to work hard to eliminate this play. It equates to just giving our opponents the ball to come back at us. We have good skill in midfield with Hegarty, Conway and Munro but we bypass them too often to lump the ball forward. Our strikers are not pacey so will rarely get these balls. Nicky made a good play with the ball at his feet beating three defenders and hitting a good shot on target, but this opportunities are not coming his way often enough.
A special mention must go to young Harry, who is just superb!!
Joe had a few very good touches today but seems to be well short of fitness and seemed to be blowing hard after only twenty minutes, we need him fitter (though I must say he was chasing lost cause balls too often).
Spider did not let us down, again picking up his needless booking and perhaps could have been red carded for shouting at the officials from the sub bench near the end. I really cannot understand the lad!
an altogether great game though, roll on the next game.

  271. I think we have to be realistic, the players that we have are not going to get an abundance of goals, the stats prove that, however if there is a real effort then we should at least recognise this instead of casting a critical eye, competition is good and i will agree that there comes a point when the goals are not going in we need to change things but we are only 4 games in and so far lost 2 games to two of the top teams at their grounds, surely the team deserve a bit more patience than the continual call for changes.

  272. in gary hake interview after the brora game he said we could have won the game if we had taken our chances, the lads he is playin up front are nae deein the job, lets try givin somebody else a chance, we keep playin the same 2 players and they are nae gettin the goals, time ti change it and give other players a chance

  273. I like your comment Andrew and agree with a lot of what you said, and I personally think our whole squad are good players. I have also really enjoyed the past two wins. I just don't think we are getting the best out of all the players due to the style we are playing. It has to be said we carried a bit of luck in both games. Vale and Fraserburgh moved the ball about well and I just don't see why we cannot play with a bit more finesse instead of just the dogged determination & fighting qualties we have shown along with some top class goalkeeping. I really don't want to come across as negative. If we could could move the ball better instead of hopeful long balls to isolated players, we could surprise all the title contenders. But for now winning is sweet!

    Posted on

  274. Dinna get the negative comments. Weve probably won as much home matches past 4days than we have in whole of 2013.
4 new players Heggy, Conway, Harry and Fraser have all enhanced team bigtime. We now have players in the team like Conway and Heggy that can shoot fae distance and get the ballon target.
Am optimistic we get well up the table maybe top 5 would asking too much but we can certainly be best of the rest

  275. Agree wi Thistlesting, it is a hard task for oor strikers wi the service ther gettin. Fan we wis two up yesterday it widv been easier if we quid hiv strung twa three passes the gither and made the Broch chase it, bit we continually booted the ball back tae them when we had it. But it was a win against a good side, hope we keep it up, mon i Jags!

  276. I also agree with Auldyin, I personally don't think the loan player is ahead of what we have. However, I feel we could play Cammy Keith up front and he would struggle. Our continual punts forward to the front players to fight for against big centre halfs will never work. We need to try to hold the ball better. There does not seem to be any passing mentality put into the team. No striker has scored any of our last three goals v Vale & Broch. Loved the fighting quality today and good win, but it wasn't pretty to watch by any means. We need to encorage holding the ball better and play the simple pass rather than hitting long hopeful balls ALL the time.

  284. I agree with buckie fan, too many of our young players are sitting on the bench and sometimes only getting 10 minutes playing time. They get no on field experience and it must be disheartening for them. No wonder the likes of Aaron Shand , a good prospect, good distributor of the ball, and good at reading the game, asked to be placed on the transfer list. He could be the first of more wanting away.

  285. cant believe how we are treating our young players, they have trained twice a week some of them for 2 seasons sometimes playing, sitting on the bench then we take in a player on loan for 3 months and he gets games ahead of the lads who have served there time here it's a disgrace at least give them a proper chance to prove themselves, yesterday at wick we started with the loan player ( not his fault) and left a player on the bench that we have spent a lot of money to bring back here, dont know what the thinking is behind it, when he goes back to elgin in 3 months time do we then ask the youngsters to then step in and play after being ignored, end of rant

  296. Another worrying performance yesterday, and attendance falling, I do not go in with the theory the glory hunters are keeping away, this is an entertainment industry and when you create as little chances as we do, it is a hard slog watching it. The players are trying hard but their confidence looks very low, for which the management team must take responsibility. We are fighting hard to win the ball but when we get it we do not seem to know what to do with it, hot potato springs to mind. I don't think it is down to the players, there are some good players in that team, but we do not seem to have any shape or cohesion and the players don't seem to have any tactical instruction to follow. Again this lies with the management. We are also off pace fitness wise, there was some very tired passing yesterday and Forres was buzzing round us full of energy.
We have no width and for me young Joe Sutherland is an ideal straight replacement for Pele, Nicky for me, does not look comfortable up front scrapping with big centre halfs and could perhaps be better utilised deeper supporting a striker. I cannot understand why Charlie Charlesworth got so much out of Nicky and we can't. The lad does not look confident or happy, again down to the management.
This is not a rant at Hake and his assistants but I just wish they would instill more belief and organisation in the side. I don't think Gary has won the respect of the players yet which is concerning.
We need to learn from our failings and try to get the best out of what we have before we look at spending money.

  307. I agree 100% with Douggie, THERE ARE NO KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOUR out there with endless amounts of money to spend on Buckie Thistle. Do you think the current Board Members are not trying their best to drum up money along with progressing other things within the club, so as to sustain a viable future for BT? Needtogetreal, you say you never said the TV idea was terrible but you said daft so its very similar?? I think the media stream would be a big boost for BT and in this day and age with the internet and tv coverage etc. its an excellent way to target overseas fans and people with an interest in BT There are too many people on these pages living in the past success for the 2 league titles and now expect it every year, as Douggie said, it will not happen all the time as we basically bought the 2 titles. If you want BT to be around in 5 or 10 years time, there are going to be some hard times ahead, if you don't like it then you are not true BT fans. For all the moaners going on about investment, I ask you one question.....................would you pump in £££££ of your hard earned cash for absolutely no return???People forget the current and previous boards and committees give up their own free time and usually costs them money as well, so lets back whoever it is that is the current custodians of BT

  308. Need to get real: with the utmost respect, get real!! Have you got any ideas how the board can get someone in to help gary fund the club? People with an endless tap of money to pour into our club do not exist, unless we get three wishes from the genie in the lamp. It seems some supporters need to be winning leagues every season. Fact: that does not happen, we spent a LOT of money to win our titles, now we need to tighten our belt a bit. If we do not have much money hard work is needed working with what we've got and trying to get the best from them. We as supporters need to give our support by turning up to all games and giving our team our full support and encouragement. Are things so bad? Did we not beat keith and play very well against a quality Nairn side. We have some young players who are playing well and continue to improve, things look Ok to me.

  310. Hibee07

IF you knew anything about the current affairs at Buckie you will know this pipe dream should be put on hold until finances is sorted out.
I didn't say it was doomed to failure or it was a terrible idea. This club has more pressing issues to sort before we start any new ventures like this. Getting someone onboard to help the President fund this club and to generate some urgently needed income, as the current one is doing nither.
Stuart's idea is a progressive longterm plan and with the correct path could succeed.
We're like a rowing boat at coopers park, one oar and a whole, going round in circles and slowly sinking......... we need steadying !!

  311. Hibee
There is no doubt a lot of benefits having open dialogue with board members and using every platform available is only natural, perhaps Frank was on about the content and appropriateness of the website used to get that message over.
Having looked at Hibs TV and seen several discussions on it , if Stuart adopts the same for Buckie then the supporters will have a direct route to info and that's no bad thing

  312. see this saturday is the player of the year presentations is there a vote on saturday

  313. Frank, Stuart is the kind of guy who would always try to explain things to fans, he wiz a pioneer of message boards and a pain in the erse to club boards in his time. He wud always try to be fair tho and explain things bit he knows folk will just keep twisting things to suit themselves. Shame really, fans want it both ways likes, they want a communicative director but when they get one they just slag them off.

    Posted on

  314. At the recent fans forum at the british legion the top table of directors told all the supporters not to go on websites such as this with comments about the club , yet i see that their new "director of communications" stuart crowther has been putting statements onto another website , i think its a case of double standards and the new board at buckie only wanting to tell you what they want to hear.

    Posted on

  315. I'd not be say quick to rubbish the Jags TV idea. I member when Stuart Crowther did the same at Hibs, he did it with his own dosh because nobody at the club believed it could be profitable, ended up making thousands for the club and its still going strong.

  316. Really good performance on Saturday to come from a. goal down away to Keith to win. The team was good from back to front, Mainzer was his usual self, excellent, Angus starting to get back to his very best , spider adding some much needed experience in middle of the park, and Nikki putting in a great shift and getting his just rewards.
It's good to see the team finally settling down after a torid season, losing players to balance the books, players through suspensions and players through injuries. And of course the ever "Saga" that is Buckie Thistle of the park, don't you think it's about time we stopped giving the rest of the league a laugh??

One other point, this Jags TV ..... I had a right giggle to myself, don't you think the board would be better spending all its borrowed time steading the club financially and resourcing some much needed income ?? Stop wasting time on daft ideas and put your energy into securing the club.

Biscuits will miss tonight's game and Saturday game due to being sent off for violent conduct which is a two match immediate to be served in any competition (same applies for serious foul play and spitting). Any other type of dismissal would mean a suspension only in the league cup due to it being ringfenced and in Lewis case he was shown a second yellow and will mean he misses the next league cup match which will be next season.

  331. I hear the same sort of things directed at refs at all grounds during a game, maybe where we need to watch is when the officials are leaving the park to go to their dressing room. The game is done then and time to move on.

  335. Where do we start ?

Lets start with the tireless commitment from the 9 players that were left on the park, my hat comes off to you. A great performance and shift put in by those and I felt sorry for them when their tired penalties came to no avail !

The referee, he got both sending offs correct,He got the penalty save and retake correct Lewis and two Keith players were yards inside the box by the time Cammy kicked the ball. So really we didn't get a bit of much needed luck and some cases of indiscipline cost what would have been a deserved victory.

The foul and abusive behaviour by the Buckie 'edited' towards the referee was nothing short of disgusting !! For grown responsible men to act in such a manner was an embarrassment to the club and all that it stands for !!

Season is now over, all but pride to play for, lets get the youngsters from the Rovers and give them a run out and see what situation we will have in the summer.

  338. Spot on thistlesting wee yer verdict, aye the ref was poor b ut refs are never gan to gee Buckie any favours gan by the abuse they get and it only happens at the viccy.
you never hear it at the other grounds so its time the abusers engaged their brain sometimes.
once again oor discipline let us doon and in the end cost us the game, thats the season over lets start building for next season and start to sign players that will improve the team cos the ones this season I have not been impressed by the majority of them

  340. Superb performance today by a hard working jags squad. However they we're on a hiding to nothing and never stood a chance as they were outnumbered in more ways than one from the start. Never ever seen anything so shocking. What else can u say!!!!!!! Keep the faith awa the jags!!!!!!

  341. Thought we gave a great fighting performance today, not the prettiest football but the spirit was good. Keith looked a very mediocre team emphasised when they failed to score in extra time against nine men. The brave Jags even managed to create a few chances during this period. Negatives today should be directed at some supporters. The verbal abuse against the referee again let us down. Yes, he had a poor game but this behaviour does not change decisions or results. The two sending offs were correct. Lewis was unlucky with his tackle but had to walk for a second yellow. Shaun let us down more than the ref with his wild lunge at his opponent. I feel his sending off changed the game, not the official. His constant yellow cards was poor but the sending offs were correct which was the reason we did not seal the victory in 90 minutes. I am unsure why the penalty had to be retaken, but at the end of the day we still led the game after that and looked comfortable until shauns moment of madness and louie's tackle in the box. Can any jags fan be 100% sure Keiths shot off the bar did not cross the line. The referee obviously did not have anything to do with us losing the shootout. We have less quality now than we enjoyed in previous seasons, so must keep 11 players on the field. I worry this referee abuse will make them dread coming to Buckie and it certainly won't help to give us any important decisions during games. If referee's don't like us, it certainly won't help us.

First shot target 85 minutes apart Lewis effort says it all.We are back to hump the ba tactics to Lewis and when he controls the ba we are still in oor ain half. Its time to say thanks to him and get back to defence.
Said so at the time but can somebody explain to me why Spider has came back.the league has long gone,he canna play in the cup and to me all we are deeing is get him fit pay his wages and go back to the locos.
Last night showed oor level, play a half decent team and we are a poor second.

Reality check .........its a results buisness and the management team will put out their strongest team to try and win the match if they dinna win then the same fans will be shouting for the managers heed .

  383. I think Gary Clark has been playing well lately, working really hard in midfield, but today he let us all down AGAIN, he is just too hot headed and unreliable. With the players we have lost, we need to keep 11 on the park
I would like to see jordan getting more playing time, with a bit more positive encoragement from the dugout, he can be a great addition to the team

  385. Great performance by the ten men today. Turriff deserved to win but with grit & determination we held out for a point. Gary Clark, please apologise to your team mates and the fans, double red card. I see from managers interview he clearly feels the officials were at fault. Wake up and look at gary's record. I personally would like to see him let go now, but i am sure he will get away with it again. Why can Jo be overlooked for a new young signing who hasn't been tested, especially when down to ten men, i fear he will get fed up and move

Defensively we were excellent in the second half apart fae the soft goal we gave away. When are the management team gan to get some mobility into the team as the day some of oor players did nothing.Heres hoping on tuesday some of the younger players get a game to show fit can do

New manager new team Greg Carrol is in the past winning the league is inthe past buckie have to work at winning the league title again fans taking the huff and not coming back is not the answer you have to take the good with the bad and get behind your team regardless no team has a bigger support than Buckie Thistle and yes the fans want to see a succesful team and i am sure it will come

  393. If people choose not to come back then it says more about them that Buckie Thistle, we've seen a lot worse than today on the pitch and we need to remember this, the players were gutted on Saturday so no one is hurting more than them, the least we can do is support them through the rough times

To be honest i think a lot of the fans are now struggling i wasna really bathered we got beat.
Huge week for the management team as 2 defeats v the Broch and Turriff and i doubt the managment team can continue. Buckie are too big a team to be 5th or 6th bottom if the league. Weve got fae a team feared by abody to a team that Strathspey and Fort can beat

Against Formartine and yesterday fin we went behind the "manager" pits on midfield an defensive players. These lads are Jags signed players and here on merit bit am sure even they are surprised at gittin on in that situation. I hiv ti ask, hoo mony games did we win in the second haf wi the last Manager. He made brilliant changes ti tactics an his team were really fit.It looks ti me that the trainin is sadly lackin.Maybe we shid go up for a look!! At the warm up for the Formartine game the assistants language wis hale bad an am sure fowk wi faimilies there dinna want ti listen ti that stuff.Grant Smith's comments in the Squeak last week were spot on.In ony walk o life hoo can yi git the best oot a fowk bi effin an blindin at them as we saw an heard fin Gary Hake took the 21's.We're on a doonward spiral an am afraid that if we dinna see a change o management sooner rather than later it'll only git worse.I hiv ti winner fit players wid like ti come ti the Jags at the moment.Am sure that I hivna got the remind the directors that the buck will stop wi them an if they dinna act seen wir great club will slip further.

  414. The loss of some of our better players is going to make it a long hard slog until the end of the Season. However, Club had little option but to cash in now on those who would have gone for free in a few months or a striker who in his own words " had lost the desire to play for Buckie". Important thing now is to bring in players with the correct attitude for next season. Thought Gary Clark was imense on Saturday against Formartine with his work rate, attitude and willingness to take responsibility in difficult situations. Plays on the edge at times but we could do with a few more like him.

For one I'm not loading bullets for anybody, I don't have to, those questions should be asked by life long fans , players, supporters club etc etc people who care about the club , have a passion, have mates playing there....

And believe you me if I was at home I would stand up and ask those exact questions , because unlike 80% of the support I have a spine and I'm not afraid of who thinks what and I don't take sides either.

I can't see any reason why any of the players would want to play for this club anymore other than a young local with a dream. But even then I don't think they would want to play.

I pulled the "hoops" on in the poor old days, i played for nothing, I know what it's like and I know where it's heading. Too many keyboard gangsters in buckie, time to man up and speak up!!

  427. Re "confused jag"

Not sure how the "forum" will go, either way we will be standing watching the Formartine game with alot of "spin" and unanswered questions.
Most of the questions will or should be directed to the board, as in my opinion feel as though they are accountable "mostly" for what's going this season.
Questions that would most likely need to be asked are: Why have the board failed to bring in any new investors - sponsorship- financial help into the club? Are the board 100% behind the coaching staff? Are we in financial difficulty hence the "selling" of key players to balance books? Are the coaching staff going to get the "bulk" of transfer money gained to strengthen? And really -What are the boards aims and goals for bringing the club forward?
Will anybody stand up and ask these sorts of questions, I pretty much doubt going by the AGM at the start of the season. If I weren't at the other side of the world working I'm pretty damn sure I would standing up asking.
The failure at this level has a massive effect on the future of football in Buckie , this shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Things may not be so rosy now but hey, lets get behind the lads who are left and cheer them on, our feelings may translate on to the pitch on a Saturday.
Who knows, the players may do well. No word from the board about what plans we have for the future, but I hope we postpone the building of a new stand and sort out the football side first.
We cannot expect to win every season and maybe we have been a bit spoiled with the recent success, no other highland league team could sustain the size of squad we had in those times. Time for a reality check. We may be mid to lower table for a long time but at least there is no relegation.
Positives - young players like Shaun Wood, Darren Wood, Angus, Sutherland, Shand. These guys could be the answer.

  434. Buckies wages will not attract players here anymore, we've seen the good times now its a belt tightening exercise, no harm in that. For whatever reasons players are leaving i dont know but Zanders was a no brainer for the loon, Martins was to be expected at sometime and Pele will undoubtably have a better offer at Formartine. The club cannot stop this from happening its how it reacts to it that will tell us where we are. I bear no malice to any of the players that have left, if anything Zander and Pele should be commended for allowing the club to receive a fee and bnot walking in the summer and Martins was good business in the end, we have to move forward see this season out and regroup, look at new signings and look at the youths and see where we can go but we must go forward!!

  435. Have to agree with confused Jag, we are where we are so its time to back the Board and management team, We have a forum shortly so ask your pertinent questions but please lets be civilised and not descend into a farce in trying to score points against each other/s.
Stop and think-what is all this saying to future investors-run away!
Lets all just take a time out and pause that includes all present and previous management and supporters for the good of Buckie thistle football club.
I dont see any other football club washing their dirty linen in public like us over the past years.

  436. Ask yourself , why are our best players hell bent on leaving the club. Do you really think the present regime have it in them to attract players who will bring on our own young lads ? If so where are they. The club must have some finances to give to Gary so what's happening ? Lots of questions to be asked in a couple of weeks time, hope we get some answers.

    Posted on

  437. So basically people are wanting to sack the management team? What do we do then , we still will have players wanting to leave and we still wont have the finances to match the last 10 years, how will this help?? I agree that the integration of certain players into the management and youth structures is important but Gary, Colin, Graeme and Kevin deserve our support in what is trying times for everyonme associated with the club

    Posted on

  438. Aye boys, Doug, yer right. One major problem is how div you attract players to the club. Answer, get somebody in who kens the league inside oot, has the respect of players at the club and who has a proven ability to bring on youngsters by leadin by example. Somebody that can mak the club attractive to get quality into the squad that in turn will get the crowds back and the place buzzin again. It winna happen overnight but how far soon the league div you wint to be afore it happens. Thers nae a lot o clubs can boast a semi pro captain, Hfl player o the year and somebody that has worked wi young players for mare than 10 years in their staff, the vale gave Greg a start at 32 an look fit happened. Les FRidge,CHarlie Rowley, Hunter at the Broch, fit are we waitin for ?

    Posted on

  439. Things dinna look good jist now but every team has to have a period of rebuilding now and then. If the club does not have any money to buy quality, that's fine but what I don't want to see is us bringing in average highland league players for their experience, as they will always be average, we have to look at younger players and develop them. I read Hearts used six teenagers at Parkhead against Celtic yesterday, Hibs and Dundee Utd are consistantly bringing through young players. If these SPL clubs think that this is the way forward with the current financial climate, we need to get on that bus as soon as possible and work hard at it. The other advantage with a good proportion of young players is one of them might exceed expectation and end up getting the club a healthy transfer fee.

  444. So another saturday bites the dust and probably we are now about to enter another winter that leads to the mad dash midweek game scenario to get the season finished.

This does nothing to attract fans or sponsors and with a lack of money in the game even more will be lost with the wed game scenario again.

Why not try the summer football thing, Christ it cannot be worse than the winter scenario.
Heck we might even get better pitches for the players, more families turning up. No need to spend great fortunes on enclosures(the clubs that have then that is) More sponsers(less cancelations), more cash spent in the clubs facilities and a attitude that says I look forward to the game rather than oh heck look at the weather will I go, also the critical factor young supporters might just be tempted away from FB, X boxes etc if they can get their shorts on and laze around on the grass instead of in the house.

April to December season with a few weeks break for the school holidays and players holidays and pitch recovery. Before the sc cup is mentioned nobody from the HFl gets much further than the dec-jan date and the Powers to be south dont give ashh about us so why not give it a go- Heck what have we got to lose!!!
Our game is already dying a slow death but we might just stall it a bit and give it time to breath and dare I say it -recover!

  448. As said in other posts, we do not have enough local players to play for the jags. No one is suggesting we put our young lads in the team just now. However, we never will have any local talent if they do not get u21 games, a previous post mentioned a few 15 year olds playing in the 21 game against Turriff. These lads were from Aberdeen I'm told. Why play 15 year olds from Aberdeen and ignore our 17's and older that went through the youth development.
Are these young Aberdeen lads parents friends with the manager? who knows but it makes you wonder.
Our own guys would benefit from these games as the term development suggests. I know of a couple of really promising players that quit due to lack of opportunity and being bypassed at 21 level by first team players and Aberdeen lads.
When clubs do not have the money to spend on players, this is the most important area for any club. Get these lads into the 21 team and develop them further and see where they can go. You never know, we may get another Micky McPherson, Alex Innes, Robbie Nicol, Jamie Shewan.........
The Vale and the Broch seem to get lads coming through, so could we if more effort was made by the management

  449. Think the biggest question here is WHY do players want to leave the club?? Not so long ago we were a league winning side and a very appealing club for players to join.
The new 'regime' have had plenty of time to get things sorted out and on track and this does not seem to be the case.

'A few successfull years cost the club a fortune and do you really think that this would be sustainable? ' as mentioned by 'Football Fan' Why shell out a fortune on a new stand then if money is a problem??

Have heard strong rumours that 5 other players will be gone in the next few months?? Think someone from the board needs to man up and come forward and tell us what is going on???

    Posted on

  450. It looks like players are leaving because they are not happy with the way things are being run at the club ,"football fan" has hinted at this by saying that they are leaving for "whatever reason".
Its also a FACT that a senior member of the board tried to sell players to other clubs without their knowledge this is what happened with zander going to brora,it looks like the jags are in freefall and that other players will also dissapear "like snaw offf a dyke" before the end of the season.

  451. Re Football Fan

You look back to recent post I made about bring realistic on the money situation, wages, expenses etc etc and you will see my views on that, pretty much what you've mentioned.
On your committee point, I never questioned their commitment and dedication or any else to go with committees, I mentioned "board". Also I would never join a committee with the people that's at the club at the moment , never. They will get told what they need to know, nothing more, the board will decide regardless.
As for players wanting to leave, yes sell on, take the money as contracts are running out, no brainer as you said, or could we have tried to resign them - contract extensions??? Or ask the player one to one and ASK him why he wants to leave, you might not get the answer your looking for ..........
You need to stop listening to what your told and start looking and listening for yourself .

I bet you the manager and assistant won't get a fraction of the money taken in to strengthen the squad. Which is a shame really because its denying them the chance to prove themselves and will probably be driven from the club as failures.

  452. Re "need to get real" comments. I agree you dont have enough local players good enough to have an all local team, or near enough a whole team. Very few clubs can do that and be successfull as such. But what I dont agree with you is where you say the club members are selling the best players. You have to remember it was the players who ASKED to be put on the transfer list, going by the press. If a player has made up his mind he wants to leave, for whatever reasons, then I feel the board are 100% correct in what they are doing. Sell them now or let them go for nothing in the summer, is a no brainer!! You cant keep any players who want away, so bottom line is take what you get for them and ideally replace them with the best that is on the go and what you can afford. If you are that concerned about the "run the club to the ground" then why not get yourself on the committe and let your voice be heard where you will be in a position to do something? You always read a lot of negative comments coming from football fans at all clubs at all levels, but I for one will never give a committee a hard time as the time, effort and money that goes with running a club is a thankless task. You will never keep everybody happy all the time. At the end of the day the club has to run within its means and as far as possible be self sufficient in generating income. A few successfull years cost the club a fortune and do you really think that this would be sustainable? Lets all take a step back and give the current board & management time to get things in place. I believe there is a lot happening behind the scenes and things are being done, so lets wait and see.

  455. De JA Vu !! Here we go again, the life members on this board are trying to take us down the same path AGAIN , the path that nearly got this club folded.
Lets sell everyone, take the money in and squander it, tell the fans nothing, try an all local team and sit 6th bottom, nobody cares, as long as we don't have to do anything that's good.
WELL an all local team will win you nowt and it want draw in the crowds, SUCCESS draws in the crowds and we haven't enough local players good enough to play Highland League!
The board must get real, they must tell the management and fans it's aims and objectives, and very soon before any more players get sick of the crap. And if this is a hidden agenda to get rid of the coach and staff it's getting beyond a joke.
Give them the baulk of the thirteen thousand to rebuild , get new players in or face a fans backlash, you did it once before we will not standby and let you do it AGAIN.

  457. I have always supported using our youth development more, some fans on this site do not feel local fans will come to support the club just because local lads are playing and this may be true. However it must be said Jamie has always been one of the supporters' favourites, yes because he is a good player but also the fans know he plays for the badge which locals would do.
I feel really strongly that our youth development players should be playing in the under 21 games, if not then the work David Findlay and his team are doing is pointless. I cannot see the point of playing first team players in these games, or one of the coaches.
This is a quote from the Vale's website from Mr Charlesworth:- "We know what is required plus there are a number of other issues that are every bit as important for the future and that is the youth system"
I wish we could hear words like this from our management.

  458. I respect your comments about negativity around some players, however I feel that a lot of these said comments were not about players ability, more about their commitment and work rate. A great player like Zander was not just praised for his skill but his graft on the park, the laddie tried his heart out every game. When fans are now paying a considerable amount of money per season to attend home and away games, the least they deserve is 100% from all the players.

There is plenty of this on other social websites at the moment concerning the Jags without our Guest book turning into another Jags negativity site so Yes post comments but at this time what the club needs is a united positive support from us all, please remember this before posting comments on this site or any other site and also at the game. I also agree with what has been said about the buckie board and what was said at the agm , there seems to be a lack of direction off the park , there has been a lack of information to the fans regarding what is going on at the club , these are changed days indeed in only a short period of time , many jags fans have seen this before and unfortunately will probably see it again , keep supporting the team.

  477. I agree with some of need to get real's comments. Let's face it, no team can sustain the investment Buckie made to win the leagues. I do fear about dropping attendances, I feel the way to combat this is to use our own local talent, win or lose, a lot of local people will turn up to see local players going through their development, no we won't challenge for a while, but with the right guidance and coaching, who knows what is possible without having to spend large sums. What worries me is that it seems that Aberdeen is where the eyes that pick the team is looking. What is the point of having a youth development if we continually to bypass the players. They may not be the finished product but with continued coaching from David Findlay AND the first team coaches, who knows what they could achieve.

  478. Buckie fans need to get real, wake up and smell the coffee. For the last four year Buckie have been spending obscene amounts of money on players and wages, to unsustainable proportions.
IF rumours are correct we have cut the monthly bill 'edited', I stress that is rumour but with substance. NOW think about where that money is coming from, gate receipts? raffle money? Sponsors?fundraising? none, direct debit from 'Edited' bank account, and how long can 'Edited' do this? I for one wouldn't waste that sort of money unless I was a multi millionaire FFS !! By getting rid of these players will help(slightly) with the wage and expenses bill and hopefully take in some money.
Where is all the promises the new board made pre season? What have the new board done to help with this problem? What is the boards aims or goals for Buckie Thistle?
Gary Hake and Kevin Small have probably got the hardest job as Buckie management in over ten years, all the others have had it good with as much money to spend.
Buckie are no longer a force and won't be for a few year until we get a healthy , steady buisness which is sustainable.
As for fans not coming back because we're not winning, or taking the hump or boycotting the 'Edited',whatever,is just hurting the club and making it harder to invest.
I will stand at the dugout with a hundred fans again and go through the bad times, but will you??

Who are they going to be replaced by? probably players that are nowhere near as good , just look at the summer when only one player left and five or six came in , has the team got better ,NO .
Its more than likely that even more players will now want to leave and we will be back to the bad old days with a crap team on the park and crowds dropping to under 100 like it was in the nineties , questions must be asked NOW what is going wrong at the viccy?

The club close to my heart started using Aberdeen players, what happened? They now have no fans.
Jagsfan-What reaction does the Buckie manager get from the players when he is watching Buckie youth games from lads who are being overlooked by 15 year old Aberdeen lads, cannot be very encouraging for them. Playing your own players at u21 level is surely one of the ways to develop them further

In defense of Buckie, they have a good youth set up,and also connections to the two junior sides, Buckie Rovers and Portgordon Vics.Just a shame it does not get used like it could.I think there was only 2 lads from the the Buckie youth set up that got some gametime on Monday. The rest of the team apart from a few first team players I believe are all from the Aberdeen area.I am sure they could have a starting 11 from the 15's, 17's, Rovers and Vics no problem with two or three first team lads in the mix,and they train together often too.We have decent young lads on our doorstep who are worthy of a chance.

We lack pace all round the park so we will be caught out with clever teams, we have rode our luck a lot over past few years regarding defending.
Up front we lack a prolific scorer not had that since Gary whytes days,
I cant say the guys have no committment you can see by their face s walking doon the tunnel at the end of the game the have tried hard. may be the Wick 7-0 and Vale 7-0 their heads went doon.
I am a little amazed that Young 'edited' came on instead of 'edited' as he still along way ready from being up to the physical and better teams, need to work on his pace.
I think we need to add a little discipline back in to squad 'edited' plays well then see red mist probably should have went off again yesterday 'edited' gets involved needlessly
'edited' need to play back all his after match comments for every match this year and question himself as said before 'edited'

  496. Superb first half yesterday, then it fell apart again. The responsibility and endeavour is falling to the same players each week with some not looking interested to give their all for the club. Our prolific winger is an example of this. As well as being our most skilful and creative player, he must be one of our hardest working players. If all the boys worked as hard as him, we would not have displays like these. Our striker does not look interested and certainly is our poorest performer, slow, immobile and not willing to put his foot in, never challenges in the air with any conviction. We could not defend from the front as he loses the ball all the time and refuses to put pressure on defenders with possession and the ball comes straight back to us. Yet he was kept on the 90 minutes. Why????? Every player is a defender when we do not have the ball, but that is not how some see it. It is left to the same players to fight for the ball.

Zander was unplayable at times and his quick thinking seemed to catch out even his own team mates. I understand the referee's thinking when he sent off Shewan, his run at his opponent before the tackle looked very aggressive, but I feel he got this decision wrong, the actual challenge was fair. On the negative side, our front two look yards short of pace, their fitness still looks woeful and their running power is non existant. I just cannot see a healthy goal return in these two players unless they knuckle down in training and in their own time and drastically improve their fitness. They are not able to give the effort the rest of the team are displaying. Unless their mobility improves, we must consider joe and Aaron, as they both have pace, they may lacking experience but they cannot do nothing about that if they are not getting game time. Hope we take today's form into next weeks game.

However, great to see the lads secure a good win, well done!!!!

Still in a state of shock after setterday but it has been coming and please stop going on aboot 7nil at the vale that was a one off the wick game wisna, they are a nae bad team for being average as described by the manager.

Many o that young players dinna get picked on a presumption they couldna handle the highland league yet, bit who kens until ye try them. Maybe it will show up a couple o players that can dee it an rise to the challenge. If they got a shot, they wid certainly give their all and run themsels intae the ground unlike the first team. We need to change things noo for next season, there's nae pint pickin the team we got for the rest o the season, tryin tae get as much points as possible tae hopefully finish mid table, that disna mak sense, make changes noo !!!!!!!!1

Disagreed a little with the "how can we go from drawing with Cove to losin 7-0" bit.
We were lucky last week, we certainly didna play well enough to deserve a point. we defended with our lives and Cove had a bad day in the box. On another day we could have got it last week as well. We canna go through games not creating and just expectin a great defensive and GK performance. Still think we look very sluggish and unfit, off the pace, One player looked knackered comin aff efter the warm up.

  514. I am appalled to read this morning that the Jags were beaten 7-0 by a bunch of schoolboys from Wick. I can only think that the manager was holding back several players for the next game against Elgin Academy.

  515. Not going to comment on yesterdays game, but would like to know, and i am sure Easton can help, when was the last time if at all as i cant remember we lost 7-0 at home.

  516. Very good point farawajag, Gary is one of the players who is giving it his all. It is just frustrating that he gets cautioned in these games and then he has to restrain himself for fear of the second booking. I do not mind when he is cautioned for an overzealous tackle, it is more the needles bookings that frustrate many people

  517. Still canna believe the Jags got beat by 7-0 at hame and as Thistlesting says it could easy have been mare if it hidna been for Kevin Main. Young Shaun Wood also can hold his heid up but we gave up.
Nae good enough for a once proud Jags team to be HUMBLED in such a manner.
Taking nithin awa fae Week who were fantastic and who deserve as much praise going but no team shid come to Buckie and do that to us. Things need to get sorted oot this week or weel get anither hammering at Brora
And why nae Nikki Smith ??

  518. JFK.have to agree with you but had a lot more of the players shown the effort and tenacity that Mr Clark had shown we would not be in this position, some guys are going through the motion!
All we ask is to stand up and be counted or its simple move on, Jags supporters never critisise as long as the effort is there but at the moment we are light years away from the level Wick are playing and in truth Molby won us the league with goals!

    Posted on

  519. Wick were outstanding today, not by physicality like Cove or Forres but by playing good football. They move the ball very well and break very quickly. This is the type of football that deserves to win the league and great praise must be given to the manager coaches and players. Well done!!!
It pains me to say this but we were lucky to come out with a seven - zero scoreline, it could have been a few more.
I said last week we were on a downward spiral and the evidence was plain to see today.
Disjointed, lacking cohesion and shape. Absolutely no creativity in midfield or from the forward players.
The team have more ability than this, but they seem to have a great deal less confidence and enthusiasm.
We look an unhappy team, lacking spirit and desire, going through the motions, it could be said.
Why have we lost that tenacious edge that won two titles?
I do not wish to single out any players for criticism, however a mention must go to Gary Clark for again picking up his statutory caution.
Has he a mandate to get booked each game?
If only his ability matched his anger

  522. Great endeavour by the team v Cove, they gave their all to avoid Cove posting a deserved win.
Not much cheer for the Jags fans though, except Joe Sutherland starting to adapt well to the Highland league, and scoring with a top class strike and Kevin proving his worth time and time again during the game.
Gary Clark probably should have had an early bath for the incident in the first half. It is obvious that the management cannot influence the temper of this loose cannon.
Some of the players fitness looks very suspect, Cove looked much more mobile and sharper all over the field. Training issues????? it seems so.
I do not expect to win each week, and it does not worry me when we don't, especially if we see the team is moving in a positive direction, however this is not the case with the Jags, we look like a team on a downward spiral.

We got away wi them having a stone wall penalty at 2-1. We canna even say we missed a heep of chances. Why Shaun Wood was on the bench after his performances i dont know and Lewis was crocked roon aboot 60mins when the substitution came for Ian to come on abody inc Lewis couldna believe it fan Woody went aff. Well played Fort William they totaly deserved their 2nd point of the season.
We have 4 tough games coming up against Forres, Cove, Wick and Brora play like that and weel get hammered in every game

The shape of the team is a wrang, they are a colour blind and once again the wrang player drapped.

  538. A 0-0 draw with Fort William would have been very disappointing, but conceding three goals at home to them is a true sign of exactly where we currently are as a team. There should be no excuses offered by the management team for this result.

Some bizarre substitutions by Buckie heres hoping Woody was injured cos his replacement as usual was everywhere but his position nae wonder Kevin was screaming at him to get back
The first half was the usual high ball junk by the jags.the goal came fae such a tactic though so it must pay.

Interesting thats 3 home Scottish cups games and no goals, say no more.

  546. Really disappointed today after the Turriff game. I think the players gave everything, no criticism is fair for effort. I think the problem is with the shape and style of the team which is down to Gary Hake, not the players. His tactical awareness seems to be coming up way short now in many games and the players do not look cohesive. Nicky and Zander keep having to fight for scraps up front with the long ball continuing to be used to feed them. We struggle to provide enough quality balls to Pele out wide, so we are losing the use of a quality player. Movement off the ball is deplorable with no idea from our midfield of where to run to receive the ball and pull defenders out of position. Maybe we could utilise Parro's coaching qualifications to help organize the shape of the first team. Losing is not the worst if the team play well, but we are down at kick and chase level now. The lads got praised after last weeks game but we have to remember that Rothes, with sincere respect, are not among the best teams in the league. Turriff were set up well today and played to a gameplan, they always seemed to have a player available to pick up the loose ball. It's going to be a long season watching 50 yard thumps, but I'll be there to watch it anyway. We still have to support the team to the hilt.

  552. Agree with Andrew, Shaun Wood surely one of the first picks now. Great composure, never panics and seems to read the game so well. His temperament is excellent too, never gets involved, which seems to add to his value for the team. He even had a few good bursting runs forward on Saturday. This young man is going to become a rock for Buckie, hope we can keep him though, as wouldn't be surprised if some higher level club starts sniffing around him

  553. Great performance by the team yesterday. Thought Nikki and Aaron have the start of a very good strike partnership and both are good on the ball. The midfield broke forward all the time with Clarky everwhere on the park and giving Turriff no time on the ball. The defence was excellent shame Lewis was porvoked by the Turriff player manager was a joke. great to have Chris Angus back and Shaun wood is so good he must be one of the 1st players on the teamsheet.
All in all a superb team performance bring on the Rothes

  554. Good performance against Turriff. Nicky takin up some really great positions and could have scored more. With more games, he could be really lethal. Referee wasn't great, but our players should stop getting involved in onfield niggling. Another fine for a red card. GC will never learn, he was wound up after his yellow and could have walked again.

  555. Good to see Kris Angus having a kick about with the boys hope is is back playing soon. The games i have seen this years loads of chances being missed, yesterday 2 strikers on the bench who scored 65 goals between them one gets on for two minutes surely they both deserve a chance and lets see what they can do.

  556. Strikers are not scorin for one reason, they are not near fit enough or sharp enough, this is the case for many other players in the team. If they had the fitness o Jamie they would be gettin more success. I have witnessed the training a few times and to be honest, I think it's a joke, the youth development squads are worked harder. I do a bit of running and I could not keep running with the training they are doing. The team did well for a long period when down to ten men, Well done lads, get fitter and you would be right up the league.

  558. On Field dicipline let us down again today at Vale. These red cards have to stop. We still competed for long periods, but the two strikers are just not getting chances. Too much long balls to them to hold up. No creativity coming from midfield. Maybe NS would be worth a try, why did we buy him to sit on the bench? GC should not have been on that field today or ever again in my opinion. He does nothing with the ball and is a loose cannon waiting for another red card.

  559. Well done buckie over the two games you's maybe just shaded it.
The wee man that come on in the 2nd half was really impressive and scored two excellent goals but for me your goalkeeper was the difference between the two teams, he broke a few hearts at the weekend with one of the best goalkeeping performances I have ever seen.

Nice set up and the only disappointing thing about the day was the wind playing factor in the first half. Draw was fair if anything Buckie maybe shaded it, as we still offer nothing up front with playing 4-5-1. Hope to see some of you's back down here on Saturday. Great performance second half yesterday, really good game to watch, encouraged by a few very good touches from Andy Gardiner when he came on, created a very good scoring chance for himself too. I would like to see more of Nicky Smith tho, he certainly cannot do nothing coming on with so little time left. He proved himself at Lossie, thats why we bought him!!! I thought Martin Charlesworth played OK, held up the ball well, but sometimes he seems very hesitant to challenge for balls convincingly. Disappointing attendance again

  582. Attendances go up and doon wee performances. Bottom line hardcore support o aboot 150 so get worried when they drop tae that. Gate income nae as big a proportion o overa income nooadays, or so im telt by them that cane better.

    Posted on

  583. A few points on the lack of attendances
1 prices to get in have gone up
2 fans are now being charged for the stand
3 a lack of promotion of the matches the buckie club website did not mention the keith game until saturday morning too late by then as people plan what they are doing at a weekend much earlier
4 at yesterdays match i stood outside with dozens of other fans and waited to get in until finally at 2.30 they decided to open the gate
5 money is tight with everyone these days and they need to treat their fans better

    Posted on

  584. Yes, sad to see the crowd dwindling a bit when we need as much gate money as possible. I sincerely hope it is not just because we are not challenging at the top of the league. Also, I hope Gary Clark does not go straight back into the team against Annan as I feel this would annoy many of the fans who are attending. He obviously does not have the correct temperament for this type of game and is not going to learn now at his age.

    Posted on

  585. Buckie are a gweed example of how not to play fitba, long ball game all the time, tryin tae ping ba's tae zander & Pele, easy meat for defenders, Davey is the only player who can pit his fit on the ba and try to dee somethin wi it. Kevin kicks the ba oot mest o the time, again straight to defenders mest o the time, Charlesworth not many chances due tae the lang ba, he obviously likes the ba tae his feet, bit has to chase it and challenge for heeders a the time wi the service he gets. Supporters usually git criticised by coaches as not kenning fit theyre talkin aboot, bit good few supporters played at least at the same level as Gary Hake and dee ken somethin aboot the game.
